Thing 1 and Thing 2

I put Samantha on Carson's lap this morning....
He thought it was soooooo funny to be holding a baby.
I love his face...it's like "HELP ME!!!"

Life according to Carson....

If there is a picture that can sum up Carson's life right now, it is the one at the top.
We have what some might call a "walking on the couch" problem.
Carson is very busy exploring everything that life brings to him.
He has become so adventurous...he goes down all the big slides at the park by himself now.
He is daring but not careless - a good combination!
He knows all of his letters now (although "W" is still hit or miss). We are working on numbers and he can count to four, although when we show him a number,
every number is "2".
He says "pjs" and "ouch" and "meat". He makes us laugh about 5000 times a day.
The best new vocabulary words from last week were "boob" and "bra". Don't ask.
When one is nursing a baby in the house, I guess this is what happens!
He loves to color and write so much that we have had to take all of his crayons away, due to his insistence upon drawing pictures on things like our walls and our tile floors.
He specializes in the abstract.
He continues to be sweet to Samantha. He loves to tickle her feet.
He is patient with me when I am trying to load up Samantha in the Bjorn to take him to the library and it is taking me an hour...
He is our little boy - not so little anymore - but brilliant as ever and growing up so fast.

Growing!

Our Sam I Am is growing by leaps and bounds.
Lovely Samantha held a rattle today for the first time during music class.
She loves it when Daddy beatboxes to her - it makes her laugh every time.
She is starting to love being upright instead of lying down -
I think it is because she is very nosy!
She is becoming more beautiful by the day. Her dark hair is falling out and the light blonde is coming in. She is currently rocking the baby mullet as Carson did at this age.....with our luck the mullet will last well into the sixth month as it did with Carson.
We bring new trends to baby hair in this family.
Samantha is settling nicely into her schedule, taking three or four naps during the day and going to bed around 7 PM.
She's been getting up only once per night to eat which officially makes her a rock star!
She has a very cool personality - though she hates to be cold (like her parents) and generally dislikes being put down once you have been holding her (who can blame her?) - she is basically jivin' with whatever life brings to her. She is a cool cat and we love her to pieces!

I can't put my arms down!

It was pretty cold and rainy in Vegas last week.
We had to stay in the house much of the week because of the rain, but for one of our walks, Samantha tried on my vintage baby bunting that my mom had saved for 31 years.
It doesn't fit but it was too cute not to try on.
I think we could have gone on a walk in Antarctica in that thing
and she would still have been fine!

Flower power

Samantha goes out all the time these days with her big flowery bow.
She's a beauty.
I am just so excited to have a little girl to dress up!

Much love

Here's a couple of pics of Thing 1 and Thing 2....
It's a good day when we can manage to get them in the same frame!

A fun visit!

We had a fun visit with our good friends Deana and Jason Bickler this past weekend and their twin boys, Jackson and Alex. The boys had a blast at our house, especially while playing on Samantha's pink playmat. We enjoyed seeing them and seeing how much they've grown and developed since our last visit. The Bicklers are looking for a house here in Vegas and we can't wait for them to be here more often.

Look a likes?

In this picture, Samantha reminds me a lot of Carson at this age.
Sometimes they look a lot alike!

Loving letters...

Here's a video of Carson naming his letters.

He recently became obsessed with calling out his letters and now it's all he does!

Future librarian? I think so.

Goofy

Carson and Jason are so goofy.
They love to rough house after Jas gets home from work.
It's "their time".
I love to watch them goof.

And Samantha and I just love on each other all day!
She is so kissable.

Just bein' cute...

Here are some pics of Carson looking ever so cute.
He's really into his alphabet lately.
He got foam alphabet letters for Christmas and he LOVES THEM.
He loves to say his letters and then throw them into the bath.
He also loves to say "ooooohhhh nooooooo!" It's the catchphrase of the week.
He says it 100 times a day and it cracks me up.

Play dates

Carson had a playdate with Isaiah tonight.
The theme was pizza and chasing one another.
They wore each other out chasing each other around our living room.
This is my favorite picture of the evening, mostly because of Isaiah's face in the background.
Carson was....as you can see....ready for bed after this fun night!

A hug to close out the fun....

Samantha had a very romantic date this afternoon with Scott Boschee.
He is 11 weeks older.
He tried to put the moves on her more than once...good thing it was a closely supervised date!
This might be prom 2026....stay tuned.

Go Hawks!

Samantha and Carson helped cheer on the Hawkeyes to an Orange Bowl victory the other day.
Here she shows her spirit in her Hawkeye gear.
She looks good in black and gold! :)

Time to say goodbye....

We just said goodbye to Papa Dave and Nana Baba. We won't see them again for a few months. It was a fun couple of months that we were able to spend together.
We will look back fondly on the time we spent and look forward to the next time, as always.
We are all alone here in the desert but the visits that our families have paid us this year has made life incredibly fun. We are so lucky!

Harajuku Girl...

Today, Samantha is wearing her little Harajuku girl outfit from our good friends Vanessa, Anthony, and Angelina.
Holy smokes does she look cute!

Thanks Nana and Buscia!

Thanks to my mom and grandma for a fabulous visit - We love them so much and had the best time spending time together. It was a very special week.
We all love you and can't wait until we see each other again!
With the way these weeks fly by, it won't be long!

CityCenter

We went out again this week (gosh we are so crazy!) with our families to check out the new CityCenter Las Vegas. It was beyond sweet.

We had some crazy expensive drinks and tea at the tea lounge at the Mandarin Oriental.

Crystals - amazing!

Our view from the tea lounge. What a fun night!

2 Months Old!

Samantha is 8 weeks old these days.
Where did the time go?
She would not keep her arms still for the monkey picture this month.
But she does sit there...unlike SOMEONE else we know!
We love her so much - she's a keeper!

Still BFFs...

We watched Isaiah the other day and it was so much fun.
He is the best boy.
Carson loves him - they are BFFs.
Excited for all the fun to come for these little buddies!

A few more Christmas pics...

Nana Caryn poses with Sam and her Bitty Baby.

Carson got an electric guitar for Christmas from Nana - guess who played with it most of the morning? :)

In Las Vegas, you can go to the park on Christmas. So we did!

Carson looking handsome in his Christmas outfit from Aunt Marge.
He loves his giant dump truck from Baba and Papa.

Here Samantha wears the outfit that I wore on my first Christmas 31 years ago...
