Good morning!

Stinky Fish and Sam.i.am taking in some Sesame Street this morning.

See a resemblance?

Jason and I only make one type of baby.
Carson is above at 4 months.
Sam is below at 5 months.
Pretty amazing how much they look alike!

Fun in Iowa

We made it to Iowa without incident and we are currently enjoying our vacation.
The Smith kids have been champs.
Here are some snapshots from our trip....
Carson on the plane....He was amazing.
We barely heard from him except for one gargantuan poopy diaper mid-flight.
Creators of Dora and Baby Einstein - we salute you!

Sam on the plane...She was also amazing.
Such a good traveler for her first time!
She earned her wings.

Sam and Baba and her Iowa great-grandmas - Great Grammy and Grandma Betty Ann

Carson attended a party last night at Davenport Country Club.
Here he's decked out in his finery.

We had a fun visit with Jason's cousin David and his family, Anne, Jakobe, and Callie Jane.
What cute kids! They had a lot of fun playing.

We had a birthday party for Carson on Saturday with all of Jason's family...

Partying it up, Iowa style...

It's been a fun and busy week so far, with a lot more fun to come.
On Friday we take the party to Chicago.
The Midwest will never be the same!!

Get this boy some chopsticks!

Carson added another food to his repetoire this weekend.
Sushi!
Here he eats his Bonsai Roll - shrimp tempura and crab with cucumber and avocado.

Leopard lady

Just another day of being cute for Miss Samantha.
Tough job, I know!

Houston we have a roller....

She's up!

And she's down!

And she's rolling now....Sam rolled over for the first time yesterday.
She also tried a little bit of avocado and she was a big fan.
Carson made us laugh harder than ever this week.
He's a huge ham at his music class - this week he was dancing and singing and shouting out the lyrics to the songs. Total teacher's pet. Reminds me of someone else I know??
His Daddy maybe?
Yesterday when I went to get Carson up from his nap, I went into his room and he said...
"Hi Mommy! How you doing?"
Today when he saw his friend Chase at the park, he said "Hi Buddy!"
He is also blaming people for his problems now.
He was looking at a book that had a ripped page the other day and I asked him who ripped it.
He said "Papa Dennis."
When I asked him again, he said "Nana ripped it."
It's very hard to keep a straight face around him these days.

All you need is love

Carson and Sam love each other.
They are playing together more and it is really funny.

Here Carson tries to give Samantha her bottle while she is in her Baby Einstein.
Usually he is trying to give her his sippy cup full of juice also.
What a guy!

Just the beginning of a lifelong love between bro and sis.
I smile when I think of all the fun that is ahead of them!

Five in the bed

Carson demonstrates his dance to one of his favorite songs, "Five in the bed".

It's a song from his music class and he loves the hand movements that go with it.

Sentences like "Mommy, put Dee on please!" and "Baby Sister, come over here!" are regularly coming out of his mouth.

This past weekend Carson fell into the toilet while Jason was watching the kids (too bad I had the camera in LA)...to which Jason exclaimed "Oh Jesus!" which led Carson to shout "Oh Jesus!"

When Carson falls down these days, he apologizes to himself by saying "Ooops! Sorry!!"

Just when you think....

....She can't get any cuter.....
She does!

Things are great with Samantha these days.
New developments are her ability to grasp things with both hands at the same time AND being able to do a full push up onto her arms while on her belly. Whew! She's big time.
She is also eating a little bit of cereal mixed with a tiny bit of banana once per day.
She wasn't sure about it at first but now she is all about it.
I can barely get the spoon into her mouth because she is grabbing for it so much.
Looks like the love of food that runs in our family has spread to Sam as well!

LA!

Jason was wonderful enough to be with our kiddies all weekend long last weekend and allowed me a chance to roadtrip to LA to watch the NCAA Gymnastics Regionals at UCLA.
I went with an old childhood friend of mine, Stacey...we did gymnastics together through high school at Gym Kinetics. We met up with another great childhood friend of mine, Deana, and we all had the best time ever.
Here's us after a night out at the Chateau Marmont on Saturday night....After seeing Lindsay Lohan (in the bathroom, looking like she has a lot of miles on her), Cameron Diaz, Matthew Perry, Courtney Love, and Adam Levine, we were pretty happy with ourselves and our celeb spotting abilities. Good wine, good company, and good celeb spotting equals an amazing night!

Stacey at I at "The Bruin"

@ Regionals. UCLA and Arkansas advanced to Nationals and I got to smirk to myself at the Iowa State fans sitting next to us after they fell all over the place. Oh darn. :)

What a fun weekend! I have the best husband ever.

Just cute...

These are just a couple of pictures that I think are cute...
Here's Carson eating a cupcake at his buddies Michael and Nicholas Kouchoukos' birthday party.

Here's Samantha showing off her gams in her Baby Einstein.
She has these luscious, meaty baby legs that I just can't stop pinching every day!

More about wayyyyy...

Here Carson shows us all the things he can do with his "Wayyyyy" in a shopping cart.
Oh, the things we get into when Samantha is taking a nap!

Easter!

We had a fun Easter as a family of four.
We went to Hash House A Go Go (famous Las Vegas breakfast place) for breakfast, where
Carson was introduced to Fruit Loops.
He was a BIG fan.
The kids were good and we managed to enjoy a breakfast out without any meltdowns from either child. We have our DVD player and "Ni Hao Kai Lan" to thank for Carson's good behavior.
But hey, you do what you can at this age!

Sam in her Easter dress....

Carson inspects his coloring page at the restaurant. It kept him busy for 5 minutes or so.

Daddy and daugher at Easter breakfast

Mama and son....

Need a smile?

I think this will do the trick..

Samantha and Scott laughing at the fake sneeze!

Just goofy!

Here is a video of Carson just being goofy.

He asks for yogurt all the time, which you can see...and he also demonstrates his monkey dance.

Great blackmail for his high school years!

Going bananas

Here you can watch Samantha go bananas.

She loves to be naked and when her clothes are off, she goes a little bit crazy!

5 Months

I cannot believe our princess is 5 months old.
It has been a special 5 months!
I am so priviledged to be her mother.
She is a happy, beautiful baby and we are so happy that she is in our family.
I can only imagine all the fun times that are ahead of us.
Here she models some of her vintage clothing...My outfit from Easter 1979!

April with the Smiths

It's April 2010 and the fun has just begun.
Carson got a smokin' cute haircut this weekend.
He looks a little bald but very handsome with his new 'do.
For some reason, every time we try to take a picture of Carson, we get the face you see below.
Carson is talking so much and sentences are spewing out of him like you cannot imagine.
"Hey dude!", "xylophone", "Go Hawks!", "baseball game" and "soccer game" were some he learned today.
Never a dull moment with this Stinky Fish.
This is such a fun time in his life - he is such a sponge.

Daddy reading to our babies this morning...

Samantha is so happy all the time.
She smiles and laughs all day long.
She recently discovered that she can eat her toes, and it is one of my all time favorite things that babies do. I am so excited to have a toe-taster!

There's that face again...

Coloring Eggs

My Mom and I colored eggs with the kids yesterday.
It was pretty hilarious to watch Carson take in this Easter tradition.
He was pretty into it. He was a big fan of plopping the eggs into each coloring cup,
making sure the color splashed everywhere.
Carson's hands were dyed a strange greenish yellow color from the activity.
I am thinking they might be that way until he goes to kindergarten!

Our supervisor....

Samantha hugging my mom's arm....so cute!

My mom left today....It was sad to see her go! We had such a fun time with her here and the kids loving spending time with their Nana.
We will be seeing her again in about a month when our traveling circus gets on the big airplane for our trip to Iowa and Chicago, April 23rd to May 11th.
