Liang and Shawn - finally #1!

Spoiler alert! My old coach Liang and his little studly gymnast, Shawn, finally got their gold today on the balance beam. How sweet!!! It is so amazing to see Liang at the Olympics...he totally deserves all of his success.

Since this is a blog....a couple of opinions.

1) The new scoring system in gymnastics is crap! No one who falls (i.e. Cheng Fei of China on vault) should be on the medal stand over someone who doesn't. It doesn't make sense.

2) If the Chinese gymnasts are 16, then I am 21. Come on people!

All of that aside, the American gymnasts are simply the bomb. Watching them made me so proud of where American gymnastics has gone...they have taken it to new heights.

Souvenier picture from our first night out with a "real" babysitter (not family) the other night. We celebrated 30th birthdays with some friends at SushiSamba at the Palazzo. And I only called the babysitter to check in TWICE! :)

14 Weeks

Carson is now 3 1/2 months old!

This week, Carson weighs 14 pounds, 2 oz. and is about 26 inches (will be as tall as mommy very soon!) :)

Olympic Fever

I have major Olympic fever right now.

One reason is that my old assistant coach from Iowa, Liang Qiao, affectionately known as "Chow", is now the head coach of the U.S. Olympic Gymnastics team and the coach of gymnastics phenom Shawn Johnson.

I will be spending the weekend in front of the TV, watching Liang and Shawn take on the gymnastics world. There is a very good chance that she may become the Olympic All Around Champ. Watch her....she is amazing!

This may seem weird, but Carson has an arranged marriage.

At such a young age, his future wife has already been selected for him....

Baby Avery Recker (6 weeks old) and her parents, great friends Luke and Meg, are here visiting this weekend.

I think it's a good match. After all, Avery didn't seem to mind that Carson cried through their entire first date last night. And Carson thinks the little grunts and snuffle sounds that Avery makes are rather adorable. I think he might be in love already.
