33 Week update

This random picture of pentunias is for my Mom. She wanted to see the flowers that she planted for us when she was here. I think she wants to make sure that they are still alive. They are! I do not typically have the Bieganowski-green-thumb syndrome, where every plant touched by a member of my mom's family turns into a lush, green, massive and beautiful living thing that takes over whatever room it happens to be in. These flowers are doing pretty well under my care, however. It's good to work on plants now - before long I will be responsible for keeping a baby alive!

Jason and his best buddy Isaiah hung out today. Isaiah got tired while watching the Kansas/Davidson game with his godpappa. He fell asleep on Jason's chest, clutching his stuffed basketball all the while.

Pictured below is Carson's room in its finished form.
We love the way it turned out. The glider was delivered on Saturday. Jason added to his handy feats by hanging that valance last weekend. Now we are all set for our little guy's arrival!
We're already imagining parties in Carson's room at 2 AM!

Some other fun pictures to share...
We went to a very fun birthday party this weekend for our little baby friends Michael and Nicholas Kouchoukos. Good friends Sandy and Rob gave their little men a fabulous first birthday party. Here are some pics of Jason with the little guests of honor.

Above - Jason and Nicholas hang out on the patio.

Michael is contemplating his first year of life.

In other notes, we went to the doctor last Friday for another ultrasound. Carson's growth is right on track. He is in the 58th percentile for growth and weighs right about 5 lbs right now. It was so fun to see him again! We will see him one more time before his arrival at another ultrasound at 36 weeks. I also scheduled about 500 more doctors appointments. I am beginning to do twice weekly fetal monitoring for my blood clotting issue in addition to regular OB appointments. The monitoring measures Carson's heartbeat and looks for accelerations in the heartbeat over a 20 minute period. It also looks for whether or not I am having any contractions. I did this for the first time on Friday and found it to be a quite pleasant 20 minutes of sitting in a soft recliner, watching TV, and listening to his heartbeat, which sounds much like galloping horses.

Carson continues to be a huge stinker at night. I am going to the bathroom a record 6+ times per night because of him sitting on my bladder. He continues to kick me constantly starting at about 3 AM and usually going until my alarm goes off at 6:20 AM. This week I found that I am starving at 3 AM or so and have had to make one 3 AM snack run involving a banana and a glass of milk.

All of this is good prep for those 2 AM parties in Carson's room, which Jason and I will both be attending this summer! We can't wait!

32 Weeks

Jason says that I would look suspicious leaving a farmer's market because they would think I was smuggling a watermelon.
The bump is out of control at 32 weeks - hard to believe it has 8 more weeks to grow!

I love my mom!

My mom was here visiting us this week. We had such a great time!
I miss her already and can't wait for her to be here with us this summer.
The top picture is from Tuesday the 18th when we took on Fashion Show Mall and the Palazzo shops (the Tori Burch store and the Rare Book store are both a must-see). We lunched at the Neiman Marcus cafe overlooking the strip. The bottom pic is from our dinner last night at Louis's Fish Camp at Town Square. There's something wonderful about having your mom around. She was such a huge help with the nursery. She even planted flowers in our yard!
Thanks for everything Mom - We love you!
Carson had yet another appointment this morning. Heartbeat was good at 150 and the doctor advised me to stay pregnant for another month or so. I told him I was planning on it.
Carson seems pretty comfortable in there so my bet is that he'll be in there for awhile yet.
Next appointment is next Friday at the perinatologist for another ultrasound.

31 Weeks - Go bump go!

Two things I have noticed this week about being pregnant:
1) The seas part for you. I entered the bathroom at the Hard Rock on Friday night after dinner at the Pink Taco, only to notice that many scantily clad women on their way to the bathroom made room for me to get through. They must have somehow known that my situation was more emergent than theirs.
2) People LOVE to ask you "When are you due?" Upon my responding, "May 18th", the person that asked will inevitably tell me that May 18th is their mother's brother's fiance's dog's birthday and how cool is that?!?! or that their birthday is very near to that date, as though it makes one bit of difference to either of us.
Just a couple of things I've noticed now that my pregnancy is more obvious than ever before.
I have grown a lot in the last week. Carson is still active as ever before. He was up at 5 AM playing in my belly this morning.
In other news, my mom and I got Carson's room all ready yesterday. It looks fabulous! It is all organized and his clothes are washed. Now all we need is a baby and we have a full-fledged nursery!

It's all because of him!

My friend Kellie blog-tagged me to do this little Q&A about my man. An ode to him on our blog is appropriate. If not for him, I wouldn't be rockin' this massive bump!
This is 'bout yer man...

What is his name? Jason David

How long have you been married? 4 years in June!

How long did you date? About forever! We dated 5 years before we got married, engaged for two.

How old is he? He is 29 right now....we won't mention the number he will turn next month on 4/30....

Who eats more? Jason eats a ton. He loves food and he'll eat anything that I cook. But I stack up pretty well against him, especially nowadays. We once ate 36 pieces of sushi between the two of us in one sitting.

Who said I love you first? I believe Jason did but it was easy to say it back!

Who is taller? He is the Jolly Green Giant at 6'3''

Who can sing better? Jason - his Robert Goulet impersonation is superb. He is the next American Idol.

Who is smarter? Jason is super smart. I could never understand any of his law books. But I have to say, when it comes to the ear, I have the edge. :)

Who does the laundry? We both do. I am doing it right now in case anyone wanted to know that.
Who pays the bills? We both pay bills and keep track of the finances but I think I am more obsessed with it than he is.

Who sleeps on the right side? Jason

Who mows the lawn? Jason uses the blower on our putting green if that answers the question!

Who cooks dinner? I usually do but Jason has a great repertoire of recipes that he makes. He is awesome at grilling so I leave that to him. Breakfast is another specialty of his.

Who is a better cook? I think I am better at dinners because I have more practice, but he is better at breakfast and grilling.

Who drives? We both do.

Who is more stubborn? Definitely Jason - sorry babe!

Who kissed who first? I tried to kiss him one night just before we started dating but he turned his head and I ended up kissing his cheek. How embarrassing! But I think he kissed me first when we were actually dating.

Who asked who out first? He arranged our first date - A romantic dinner at Chili's in Coralville, Iowa and an Austin Powers movie on 6/18/99. Our dates naturally continued and now we both ask each other on dates regularly.

Who proposed? Jason proposed on May 31, 2002 in Chicago on one knee. It took me awhile to say yes because I was so shocked. I left him hanging for awhile...I like to keep him in suspense. Life with me must be so exciting! :-)

Who is more sensitive? Neither of us is overly sensitive but I definitely have the trophy when it comes to crying.

Who has more friends? Jason has about a billion, zillion friends and he keeps in touch with ALL of them. He also knows all of their birthdays by heart and remembers to call them or email them on that day. It constantly amazes me.

Who has more siblings? I will say me, since I have two half sisters and Jason's sister is also my sister - so as a former only child, I am proud to say that I have him on this one.

I have the best husband in the world and I am so lucky - he makes me feel like a princess every day, even when I feel like a big fat elephant!
Now I am tagging Meg Recker, Kathryn, and Veronica to answer the questions.....You're on ladies!

30 Weeks

My bump grew all of a sudden during the day today. I kid you not. I was attending a cochlear implant seminar all day today - where, I must mention, I met the 1995 Miss America Heather Whitestone McCallum (user of two cochlear implants) - and all the while, I could feel myself getting bigger as I sat there. Maybe it was something I ate? My bump is bigger now than in this picture which was taken in the morning. I think our boy is going to be quite large!
My mom is coming to visit this weekend. We have a whole list of fun things we are going to do to get ready for the baby. We're going to wash his clothes, get some curtains for his room, and organize his closet. For anyone that knows my mom, they know that she has superior organizational and cleaning skills. She is going to be a big help to me and I can't wait to see her!

29 Week Bump

It's getting a little bit scary! :)
Oh, and I chopped all of my hair off last week.
Thanks to Veronica who talked me into it!!

Las Vegas Shower 3/1/08

My wonderful friends here in Las Vegas all came out this past Saturday in Carson's honor for a baby shower. It was such an amazing day. I was overwhelmed by everyone came to toast my entrance into motherhood and their generosity. My mother-in-law Barb, sister Jenny, and good friend Kathy Weigle flew in from Iowa and it was very fun to have them there. My good friends Kim, Sandy, Kathryn, and Sarah -amazing women that I am so honored to know - worked so hard to make the shower special, and I am incredibly appreciative of everything they did for me. I am honored to have so many good friends here in Las Vegas. We are all so lucky to know each other and I am excited for the fun times we all have ahead of us. Here are some pictures of the big event!

My friends

From left - Kim, Kathryn, Sandy, and Sarah - They completely spoiled me with this shower.
Note the "Carson" balloons! LOVE IT!

Between being Jason's wife, having the best family and friends in the world, and having the opportunity to be pregnant with this sweet baby boy, I basically wake up every day and feel like I've won the lottery.
