More walking...

Here's a video of Carson's improved walking since he started a week and a half ago. He is getting really strong and he is basically all over the place at this point. It is so cute to see him go, go, go!

Sorry the video is sideways.... but you can get the idea!

A few of the latest

Here's just a few pics of recent weeks that I thought were cute to share...
Stinky Fish at Lucille's BBQ where he was SO NOISY the whole time.
I guess one can hardly contain themselves when macaroni and cheese that good is involved.

Carson and his parental units

Laughing while he dances with Papa Dave. One of Carson's fave songs is "I Like To Move It" from the Madagascar movie.
He booty bumps and shakes his one arm all day when the song is on.

He loves his Daddy.

Here's a dilemma for all you moms out there....
Carson will drink milk all day out of his bottle,
but completely refuses to drink it out of a sippy cup.
It is WEIRD.
He will drink anything and everything else out of his sippy cup....water....juice...but not milk!
Anyone have any suggestions? For this child who is absolutely not picky in any sense of the word, we have this random milk issue now. This issue has caused us to purchase a zillion different sippy cups at Target thinking that each will be "the one" that he will enjoy using for his milk. But no cigar. What to do?!?

GIRL POWER

We had our 3D "gender check" ultrasound tonight.

I have to say that finding out the sex of one's baby is one of the most exciting days of one's life. For all of those who choose not to find out....I'm sure it is just as wonderful in that moment. But finding out so early, and being able to call the baby a "him" or a "her" throughout the pregnancy makes it so personal and fun.

Tonight we found out that we are having a......

GIRL GIRL GIRL!!!!

Our ultrasound tech....Maria, the goddess of all ultrasounds....immediately said that she knew the sex of the baby after having the baby on the screen for .2 seconds. Immediately we all thought it must be a boy.

She tortured us for a few minutes while she got a better picture of the baby on the screen.

And then...the big reveal....It is definitely 100% girl.

It is completely and utterly amazing.

I admit to a moment of panic when I first found out. Visions of make-up and boys calling the house and high school mean girl drama circled in my head.

Not to mention Jason said that he sprouted 4 gray hairs just imagining himself having a daughter.

But then.....the tutus.....the Paris-themed nursery....the little pink ruffles...the shopping trips and manicures....the Barbies and My Little Ponies.....

Being able to nurture a baby girl to grow up to be a strong, confident young woman with the skills to spread her wings anywhere....

Oh yes.....this is how it's meant to be.

We are so blessed and excited....Carson is going to be the BEST big brother to a little sister.

Unfortunately, between Jason and Carson....the boys all have no chance.

What a truly amazing day!
Now we need to work on a name. We are clueless. Luckily we have some time.

Walking!

We officially have ourselves a walker. Carson had a record stretch of 6 steps in a row yesterday and he is getting better by the minute. This video is just a sample of his newly acquired skills. I am thinking that by next week, we will be on the chase as Carson explores the world from an upright stance!

Summertime in Vegas

Summer in Vegas has started with a lot of action.
I was in Chicago last weekend with my dad, who was recently diagnosed with cancer.
He is home now and getting ready for his fight. He is gearing up to kick some you-know-what so that he can get back to his true home, Mandalay Bay. :) Carson sends a lot of love to his Grandpa Dennis as he gets ready to bestow a Marine-style total knockout on cancer.
Carson is doing awesome these days. He took four steps in a row on Wednesday, right when I got home from my trip to Chicago. His walking is progressing every day. Before long, I am confident that we will have a full fledged walker on our hands. It is all very exciting!

Mommy goes out of town, and Carson becomes the proud owner of......
A bean bag chair!
He takes in his shows on Noggin from the bean bag chair.
Such a rough life....someone's gotta do it!

He pushes his wagon all around the room.
This boy loves to push things!

Still loving the pool.....

Baby #2 seems to be doing fine as far as I can tell....I haven't heard otherwise so I am assuming that everything is kosher in there! Anyone who knows me knows that I have no patience for the short wait before one can find out the gender of their baby. I was running into the 3D ultrasound place at 17 weeks last time, begging to know B or G. At my last ultrasound at 13 weeks, I asked the tech if she could tell the gender. She looked at me like I must be completely nuts. She's right, in fact. Now the 3D ultrasound place by our house states that they guarantee that they can accurately predict the gender by 15 weeks. So I turn 15 weeks this coming Tuesday, and guess who has an appointment at 6 PM? You guessed it.
So here's hoping in a few short days.....we will know the answer to the big question....
Will it be a little bro or little sis for Mr. Carson???

Party of 4!

We are very proud and excited to let everyone know that we are expecting.....
BABY #2
on 11/10/09!
It was a huge SURPRISE and we have waited a long time to share our exciting news.
But I'm comin' out! I'm 13 weeks along now and feeling pretty good.
We had a doctor's appointment today and the baby got two thumbs up from our doctor.
The heartbeat is awesome and he/she is measuring right on target.
My bump is giant, in my opinion, compared to last time.
It's like my stomach is saying "Oh yeah! That's where I was NOT THAT LONG AGO!"
It's very fun and we are so, so happy.
Carson is going to be a big brother and it is going to be fabulous!

Adventures of a One Year Old Stinky Fish

He celebrated his birthday as any one year old should....by turning the bath water on and off and grandma and grandpa's house in the buff! (Note the strategically placed knee....)

On the cake attack with Mom....

Carson had some cake with his neighbor buddy Chase, who turned one two weeks before him.

The grown-up cupcake cake!

With Grandma, wearing the hat I wore home from the hospital one year ago.
It doesn't really fit anymore.....

His hair is spiked and he's ready for the pool with mom and dad!

He got his first wagon from Grandma and Papa Smith...He digs it. Between this wagon and his trike, we will be doing a lot of laps around the neighborhood!

Carson getting into the car, facing front in his car seat for the first time.
He's into it. He can see everything now!

We took Carson to the doctor for his 1 year appointment today. He survived his MMR shot and the chicken pox vaccine without too much carrying on. The updated stats on Carson....
Weight: 25 lbs 14 oz (87th percentile)
Height: 33 1/2 inches (97th percentile)
Head Circumference: 93rd percentile....we thought so!
We have ourselves a very large, Moose A. Moose style Stinky Fish on our hands!

In One Year.....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our sweet baby Carson!

Just a year ago, we were in the hospital, just having greeted our sweet boy for the first time.
One year later, Carson says "more", "mama", "dada", "papa", "Bob"....loves animals and food....is working on his walking and getting closer by the day....judges a book by its cover and can bring over the book I ask him to just by looking at it.....turns the book rightside up if I hand it to him upside down......knows almost all of the animals on his bumper pad.....enjoys grabbing noses and giggling......loves reading, swimming, his gymnastics class, and his Curious George CD......loves his family and friends.....always ready for a car ride or a trike ride.......he is good to his mama and best friend of his daddy......Each and every day of Carson's life has left us with our mouths gaping in amazement over his development, and it has been, without a doubt...
Our best year ever!
Carson already loves to look at his blog....I hope he can look at it one day and see how much we've loved being his parents each and every day of his life. We are so lucky!
Happy first birthday baby.....And many, many more!

Goofball

Carson has become a huge goofball in the last few weeks.
He loves to joke around and has a great sense of humor.
Here he is mimicking his Grandma Barbie....when she opens her mouth wide and smiles at him, he does the same back to her.

Here is a video of Carson waving to all the people on the Today Show. He does this every morning whenever they show all the people waving. It's pretty hilarious!
