DJ Stinky Fish

This weekend, we were paid a visit by our good friend from college, Jason Baker and his awesome girlfriend, Carol Lindsey. We had a great time. Coincidentally, this was also the weekend that we took a stroll through FAO Schwartz and the all time coolest toy ever jumped into our stroller. Carson is now the proud owner of a baby DJ Mixer, complete with keyboard, synthesizer, and turn table....all in one!

Below, he mixes up some block rockin' beats with our buddy Jason. It was hard to tell who liked the toy more....Jason may want to consider giving up punting for Carolina because I think baby DJ-ing is his true calling.

Mamb

Carson's vocab is expanding rapidly! The words he can say now are...mama, dada, papa, more, and all done. The video of him above is of him saying "more". It's his own version. It comes out more like "mamb" or "bamb". Our little man is an avid eater and he lets us know when he wants more. Tonight, he was all up in arms about how delicious his green beans were. I swear if I put a piece of dirt in front of Carson at dinnertime, he would happily eat it. I'm not complaining....I'm glad he's not picky (yet)! Shortly after this video was taken, he took his bib off and said "all done". The man knows what he wants....yet another quality that is sure to attract the ladies in the future. Uh oh!

First haircut

We got Carson his very first haircut yesterday.

It was a success. He was such a good boy for his first haircut and he looks so smooth with his new 'do. I didn't get a good "after" shot but I will.....

New PJs

We're having a great weekend watching basketball and hanging out.

Jason got Carson some new PJs that I think are incredibly cute.

This boy could wear a paper bag and still be cute...but I happen to think these PJs are especially adorable.

It's hair cut time! We are taking Carson to get his first haircut in the very near future.

Moose A. Moose

March Madness time is here and this means a lot of basketball is being watched in the Smith house these days. We just watched Purdue win the Big Ten Tournament Championship and we were reminiscing about the fact that it has been 8 years since Jason was there winning it with Iowa. Sheesh....eight whole years?? Yikes...we are old!

Carson is just busy as can be....eating everything in sight and enjoying the outdoors more than ever. Carson has taken a real dislike to eating his baby food....he will eat it but he much prefers to feed himself.

He has three new teeth coming in right now, so these will help him chew all kinds of new things.

You can see some of our hair issues. Carson's hair is LONG. It is super white-blonde and it sticks up EVERYWHERE.

In the spirit of March Madness, Jason put up Carson's basketball hoop that he got as a gift from Dean and Sarah Oliver from his baptism.

Sorry guys! Carson is....drum roll please.......scared of his basketball hoop. He would barely go near it. This was as close as he would get. He was mildly amused watching daddy shoot some hoops....actually, I think perhaps daddy put it up for himself?? :)

Channel Surfer

Here is a video of Carson signing "more". Never mind the eye rub at the end of the video...it was the end of a long day. I am so proud of my little signer! We've been working on it and he's been doing "more" very consistently. I think he totally gets it. Carson also says "Mama" to me all the time and it completely melts my heart. This week, he has also begun to say "Papapapapa" when he sees a picture of Dave. We are still waiting for "Daddy" to pop out...Jason is convinced that I am brainwashing him during the day, but I swear that we are working on "Daddy". Carson can also find the lion and the bee amongst the animals on his bumper pad, and he enthusiastically finds Herky in his Iowa book. This boy is just getting so smart! Also this week...the standing up has gone to a whole new level. He views any object in terms of how it might help him pull to a stand. He is pulling himself up on flippin' everything! Jason lowered his bed to its final setting yesterday, and I think we are going to be glad we did it. I am just waiting for the day that Carson bails out of his crib and comes running into our room....surely it won't be long!

10 Months and Cubs/Sox

Yesterday, my good friend Kara Smith from club gymnastics came to town and we took in the Cubs/Sox game at Cashman Field.

We could count Ozzie Guillen's nose hairs! (But we didn't!)
